Compare
Bokeping vs the alternatives.
The honest answer is that different businesses should buy different tools. Here’s an at-a-glance matrix of six, and a straight read on where each one actually wins.
The honest version
Six good products, five of them not ours
Comparison pages usually exist to make one product look inevitable. This one doesn’t. Every tool below is a real, well-built option that some businesses should genuinely buy instead of ours — a freelancer billing four retainer clients, a shop that needs payroll in the same login, a team that wants an API on the cheapest possible tier. What Bokeping offers is narrower and more opinionated: plain English on top of a real double-entry ledger, and books that tell you what needs doing next. Read the matrix, then read the row where we lose.

Our rules
How we compare fairly
Three rules we hold ourselves to on every page in this section.
We quote list prices, with a date
Every figure here is US list pricing, billed monthly, in USD, as of July 2026 — and we date every table, because these numbers move and promotions come and go.
We don’t hide the rows we lose
FreshBooks is better at client-facing service work. Zoho gives you more per dollar. Xero doesn’t charge per seat. Wave’s free tier costs nothing and can stay that way. QuickBooks’ ecosystem is bigger than ours will ever be.
We don’t claim what we don’t ship
No payroll, no CRM, no project tracking, no tax filing, no certification program. If those are what you need, one of the other five is the honest answer — and we’d rather say so here than after you pay.
Judge it with your own books
Import your data free, run Bokeping alongside whatever you use now, and decide after a week.
