Invoice generator questions
Yes. Creating, previewing and downloading invoices and estimates as PDFs is free, with no account and no limit on how many you make. An account is needed only for the things that need a server: emailing the invoice from Bokeping, taking online payments, and saving it to your books.
No. Fill in the form and select Download PDF. The PDF is created in your browser. You only see a signup prompt if you choose Send to customer, Get paid online or Save.
In your browser. The details you type and any logo you add are kept in this browser tab’s session storage so a refresh does not lose them, and are cleared when you close the tab. Nothing is sent to Bokeping, and the generator does not create an account or a customer record.
Enter a tax percentage on each line that is taxable. Tax is worked out per line on quantity × rate and rounded to the cent, then added up. An invoice-level discount is subtracted from the total without recalculating line tax — the same order Bokeping uses on its invoices. If your jurisdiction requires tax on the discounted price, reduce the line rates instead of using the invoice discount. The generator does not look up tax rates for you.
Yes. Switch the document type to Estimate. The due date becomes a “valid until” date and the amount-paid field is removed. Use it for quotes and bids too; the document is titled Estimate.
Yes. Add a PNG or JPG up to 2 MB. It appears on the preview and the PDF and is never uploaded. The PDF footer carries one small line noting it was made with the Bokeping generator; your business details and logo are not marked.
Choose USD, CAD, AUD, GBP, EUR or NZD; amounts are formatted in that currency. The PDF uses a standard Latin font, so accented Western European characters work but characters such as Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic cannot be drawn and are replaced with “?”. The generator warns you when that happens.
Invoices you create in Bokeping are emailed from the product, show when the customer has viewed them, can carry a pay button through Stripe or Forte, send reminders, and post to your books with the payment matched when it arrives. The Free plan includes up to 20 invoices a month.
