What to include on a landscaping invoice

Beyond the basics — your details, the customer, a unique number and the date — these are the lines landscapers get asked about.

Sample invoice lines

  • Weekly mowing, trimming and blowing (visits)5 × $55.00
  • Leaf cleanup and removal (hours)3 × $60.00
  • Shrub pruning (hours)2 × $60.00
  • Hardwood mulch, installed (cubic yards)4 × $68.00

Fictional example prices.

  1. 1

    Property and service period

Recurring work needs the property address and the period covered — “October 2026” — so each month’s bill is distinct.

  2. 2

    Visits as a quantity

Bill recurring maintenance as visits × a per-visit rate, so a missed week is easy to see and adjust.

  3. 3

Extra work on its own line

Leaf cleanup, pruning or storm cleanup outside the contract should be separate from the routine service.

  4. 4

    Materials by unit

Mulch by the cubic yard, sod by the square foot, plants by the pot — the unit makes the quantity checkable.

  5. 5

    Payment terms

State the due date and, for seasonal contracts, how the season is billed.
