Reports & Accounting / General Ledger
Real double-entry books behind plain English.
Books you can check, not just read. Nothing posts until you confirm it, an entry that doesn’t balance is refused, corrections append instead of overwriting — and any number on any report opens onto the document behind it.
Balanced by construction
Debits equal credits — every entry balances, enforced by the system, not by hoping someone checked. An unbalanced entry simply cannot post.
Every number has a source
Drill from a P&L line to the transactions behind it, and from a transaction to its journal entry. No dead ends, no “trust me” totals.
Corrections leave a trail
Nothing is silently edited. Fixes reverse the old entry and post a new one, so the history your accountant audits is the history that happened.

Nothing happens here that you can’t check
Any software can post an entry for you. The useful question is whether you can go back afterwards and see exactly what it did — and undo it if it was wrong. Bokeping is built so you always can: nothing posts without your confirmation, an entry that doesn’t balance is refused outright, a correction reverses the original instead of editing it, and every report line opens onto the transactions and documents underneath. Utilities looks high in June? One click, and there are the two payments that made it so.
- Suggested, not posted — nothing enters the books until you confirm it
- Balanced, or refused — a lopsided entry cannot post at all
- Reversed, not erased — corrections append, the original stays readable
- Traceable to the document — drill from any report line to its source
How it works
Work in plain English
Send invoices, pay bills, confirm bank transactions. Bokeping writes the balanced journal entry behind each one — you never touch a debit column.
Follow any number down
From statement to line, line to transaction, transaction to entry. The whole chain is clickable in both directions.
Close the period
Lock a month or a year and it stays locked. Later corrections post in an open period with a clear back-reference — history never rewrites.

Fair questions
No. You work with invoices, bills, and bank transactions in plain words; the ledger writes itself underneath. The double-entry layer exists so your accountant, your lender, and an audit all get real books — you only visit it when you’re curious.
Yes — every financial change carries an audit trail. Open a transaction and its history is right there: created, corrected, voided, each step dated and attributed. Nothing about the record depends on anyone remembering what they did last March, and your accountant reads the same trail from their own free login.
No, and it’s the ledger that stops them rather than a policy. Posted entries are never edited in place: a fix reverses the original and posts a replacement, so both stay in the record, dated and linked. Closed periods refuse new entries entirely — a correction for a closed month posts in the current one with a reference back. The books can be corrected. They can’t be quietly rewritten.
